Garmin Streetpilot c340 GPS - Why is it Still Available After Being Discontinued?

Thursday, March 25, 2010

For those of you that still happen to remember how popular the Garmin Streetpilot c340 GPS was a few years back, it will probably come as no big surprise that they are still extremely popular even nowadays. How is this even possible, especially considering that this particular GPS was discontinued more than a couple of years ago. Well, there are basically 2 good reasons why the c340 is still around; the first reason is because even today, it is STILL an excellent GPS, and the second reason is because Garmin still re-manufactures them (also known as refurbished).

So with that being said and all, you can obviously buy these GPS systems for far less than they originally cost (usually they can be purchased for about $100 or less). But what about the fact that they are refurbished? Does that worry some people? Possibly. But you don't have to worry about the quality or reliability of the refurbished Garmin Streetpilot c340 GPS systems. Believe it or not, when these things are refurbished, they are literally made as if they were brand new again. It seems that a lot of people tend to frown upon the fact that the item (especially electronics) at one point may have had something wrong with it; however, this is certainly something that you need not worry about.

First of all, a lot of these systems end up with the title "remanufactured" or "refurbished" simply because they became over stock at a retail store, and were then sent back to Garmin, who then simply labeled them as "refurbished" and them sold them back to stores and shops at dramatically less than their normal retail value. Also, a lot of the times the reason an item gets sent back to be "refurbished" is due to the box taking some external damage, or components missing, and so on. So in this case, there was literally never any physical damage to the item.

Lastly, for the refurbished GPS devices that actually did have some kind of physical problem or defect, they are literally fixed to the point where they are like new again, and whatever parts they needed were replaced, even if it was just cosmetic. Also, refurbished Garmin Streetpilot c340 GPS systems come in a box (non retail), and come with all of the original accessories and goodies. They even carry a manufacture warranty again too. So there you have it, this is how you can get the Garmin c340 for literally $100 or less (give or take a few dollars). Conclusion? What are you waiting for? Why not go grab one of them today if you haven't already.
